SAY SO YOUNG COMPANY TOTNES 〰️
In January 2026, we are launching the
Say So Collective Young Company
in Totnes for ages 11-16.
The Young Company will meet weekly on Monday evenings during term time from 5 -7pm.
We will work as an ensemble to create unique work, foregrounding the ideas and experiences of company members. We will also explore putting our own stamp on some established stage favourites.
We borrow ideas from a range of theatre genres and explore all aspects of theatre making - from acting and directing to designing and technical theatre.
Although we might include the odd musical number from time to time, we are not typically in the business of re-creating West End Musicals. Instead, we focus on developing original work in an innovative and collaborative way.
Sessions have a warm, friendly atmosphere and we welcome anyone who wants to have a go at developing their theatre-making skills and working as part of a dynamic new company.
Sessions will be £10 per week (sibling discounts available).

Play with us!
Say So Youth Theatre runs a variety of workshops throughout the year, including after school clubs, half term workshops and holiday camps.
Our workshops are a brilliant way to unleash your inner actor through playing ridiculous games, learning physical and vocal skills, and exploring all the different aspects of theatre making.
You don't need to have any acting experience to join in, just a willingness to have a giggle and have a go!
See below for our current after school clubs at Stoke Fleming, Blackawton and Harbertonford Primary Schools and news about our exciting new Young Company in Totnes.
A note from company Director, Lydia Frater
I was born in Totnes and enjoyed growing up amidst the rich arts opportunities that my schools (Dartington Primary, KEVICC and Exeter College) had to offer in the 90s, as well as the incredible legacy of artistic practice stemming from Dartington Hall.
I have been making theatre in a range of wonderful schools and theatres across London for many years, and have always wanted to bring what I have learned along the way back to the South West, in the hopes of inspiring a new generation of theatre-makers.
I specialise in developing inventive, lyrical pieces, informed by the personal quirks and sensibilities of those in the company and what is going on in the world around us. Every piece is unique and a joy to create!
As a former secondary teacher, I have a great respect for the complex challenges faced by teenagers and have developed a solid safeguarding practice, full DBS clearance and regular safeguarding training so your young people are in safe hands.
I look forward to seeing what we can create together!
